Construction Defect Specialist

JOB LOCATION:

Boston and/or New York City

JOB SUMMARY:

Alan Gray LLC is a rapidly expanding international insurance and financial services firm headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts.

We are looking for a strong Construction Defect Specialist for a temporary assignment.  You will be responsible for a complex case load, where determining coverage, composing disclaimers and reservation of rights letters will be required.

You must have in-depth knowledge of risk transfer and apportionment, and the ability to “think outside of the box” to create results in company’s best financial interests.  Reporting to upper management will be required while setting proper reserves on cases.

This is a temporary assignment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Direct handling of Construction Defect and General Liability claims of varying severity from receipt to final resolution.
  • Perform coverage analyses and draft coverage position letters consistent with those analyses.
  • Working to promote the company’s technical claims expertise and profile in the marketplace.
  • Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements, including licensing requirements.
  • Investigate, evaluate and settle claims, applying technical knowledge and people skills to effect fair and prompt claim resolution.
  • Complete detailed reviews of claims related issues, including coverage, liability and damages and, document the claim files appropriately.
  • Set and maintain appropriate and timely indemnity and expense reserves.
  • Must have good business acumen (i.e. understand how an insurance company works and makes money, including how this role impacts both the company and our customers’ ability to be profitable).
  • Prior related work experience required in construction defect claims handling.
  • The ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment to manage a caseload with only limited oversight by a manager (generally ten or more years).
  • At least 5 years of insurance claims handling experience.
  • Good organizational skills and a disciplined, self-motivated personality.
  • Proficient in interpersonal, negotiation, presentation and professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Solid computer skills including proficiency in the use of Word, Excel and Outlook.

Workers’ Compensation Claims Auditor/Adjuster

JOB LOCATION:

Boston or New York City

JOB SUMMARY:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Investigate workers’ compensation claims.
  • Analyze loss estimates and expert reports.
  • Assist in drafting client reports documenting the results of our review.
  • Regularly attend claim meetings.
  • Review, analyze and collect information from litigation and claim files maintained by insured’s, insurers and/or outside counsel.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5 years of multi-jurisdictional workers’ compensation claims auditing or adjusting experience.
  • Must have solid writing skills and be proficient with all aspects of claim investigations.

Claims Handling (GL, Homeowners, Toxic Tort)

PEAK PERIOD OPPORTUNITIES

Alan Gray LLC is an established insurance services firm headquartered in Downtown Boston. We are currently seeking a Claims Handler to support our various insurance projects during peak claim periods.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adjudicate and adjust CAT Claims.
  • Identify coverage issues.
  • Review, analyze and collect information from litigation and claim files maintained by insured’s, insurers, and/or outside counsel. Assignments typically involve commercial property, homeowners, asbestos, toxic tort, and environmental claims.
  • Analyze loss estimates and expert reports.
  • Assist in drafting reports to the client documenting the results of our review.
  • Attend claims meetings.
  • Develop subrogation possibilities to maximize recoveries.
  • Travel is frequent and is required approximately 35% of the time.

JOB TITLE: Claims Auditor

LOCATION: Boston, New York or Remote Location

THIS IS A TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT THAT MAY RESULT IN A PERMANENT POSITION.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review and audit property and casualty insurance claim files.
  • Review, analyze and collect information from litigation and claim files maintained by insured’s, insurers, and/or outside counsel.
  • Assignments typically involve property claims.
  • Draft reports to the client documenting the results of our review.
  • Depending on experience and ability, the position may require project management responsibilities where the individual will direct and oversee audits and manage assigned auditors.

LOCATION: Boston or New York City

Position Summary:
Alan Gray LLC, an insurance services firm seeks experienced Adjusters with 5+ years of experience for our expanding TPA practice. 
Successful candidates will have the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Medical Malpractice, medical/nursing home facility professional and/or general liability experience.
  • Litigation experience in managing outside counsel and other vendors.
  • Experience in managing investigations, evaluating and settling non-litigated claims.

QUALIFICATIONS:
