Litigation Management Specialist (HPL)

LOCATION: Illinois

Position Summary: 
Must have proven experience handling medical malpractice, hospital professional liability and/or heavy general liability claims experience. Alan Gray LLC, an insurance services firm seeks experienced Litigation Management Specialist with 10  years experience for our expanding TPA practice. 

Successful candidates will have the following:

Responsibilities:
  • Ability to manage the litigation process; ensure timely and cost-effective claims resolution for medical malpractice, hospital professional liability and/or general liability claims.
  • Litigation experience in managing outside counsel and other vendors.
  • Experience in evaluating coverage, managing investigations, evaluating and settling litigated claims.
Qualifications:

  • Mediation/Arbitration experience.
  • Effective communication skills.

Construction Defect Specialist
LOCATION: Boston and/or New York City

Position summary:
Alan Gray LLC is a rapidly expanding international insurance and financial services firm headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. We are looking for a strong Construction Defect Specialist for a temporary assignment. You will be responsible for a complex caseload, where determining coverage, composing disclaimers and reservation of rights letters will be required. You must have in-depth knowledge of risk transfer and apportionment, and the ability to “think outside of the box” to create results in company’s best financial interests. Reporting to upper management will be required while setting proper reserves on cases.

THIS IS A TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT.

Responsibilities:
  • Direct handling of Construction Defect and General Liability claims of varying severity from receipt to final resolution.
  • Perform coverage analyses and draft coverage position letters consistent with those analyses.
  • Working to promote the company’s technical claims expertise and profile in the marketplace.
  • Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements, including licensing requirements.
  • Investigate, evaluate and settle claims, applying technical knowledge and people skills to effect fair and prompt claim resolution.
  • Complete detailed reviews of claims related issues, including coverage, liability and damages and, document the claim files appropriately.
  • Set and maintain appropriate and timely indemnity and expense reserves.
  • Must have good business acumen (i.e. understand how an insurance company works and makes money, including how this role impacts both the company and our customers’ ability to be profitable).

Qualifications:

  • Prior related work experience required in construction defect claims handling.
  • The ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment to manage a caseload with only limited oversight by a manager (generally ten or more years).
  • At least 5 years of insurance claims handling the experience.
  • Good organizational skills and a disciplined, self-motivated personality.
  • Proficient in interpersonal, negotiation, presentation and professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Solid computer skills including proficiency in the use of Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Claims Auditor
LOCATION: Boston, New York City or Remote

Position summary:
THIS IS A TEMPORARY/INTERMITTENT ASSIGNMENT THAT COULD RESULT IN A PERMANENT POSITION. CANDIDATES INTERESTED IN ONLY INTERMITTENT OPPORTUNITIES ARE ALSO ENCOURAGED TO APPLY.

Responsibilities:
  • Investigate, evaluate and resolve claims through the normal claim handling process. Achieve optimal results through proper litigation and vendor management. Review, analyze and provide opinions as to claim handling practices of claims handled by Third Parties.
  • Representative claim audits typically include Professional Liability, General Liability, Excess, Auto, or Workers’ Compensation claims.
  • Depending on experience and ability, the position may require project management responsibilities where the individual will direct and oversee audits and manage assigned auditors.

LOCATION: Boston

Position summary:
Alan Gray LLC is an established insurance services firm headquartered in Downtown Boston. We are currently seeking a Claims Generalist to support our various insurance projects during peak claim periods.

PEAK PERIOD OPPORTUNITIES

Responsibilities:
  • Adjudicate and adjust CAT Claims.
  • Identify coverage issues.
  • Review, analyze and collect information from litigation and claim files maintained by insured’s, insurers, and/or outside counsel. Assignments typically involve commercial property, homeowners, asbestos, toxic tort, and environmental claims.
  • Analyze loss estimated and expert reports.

Position summary:

IMMEDIATE HIRE FOR LIMITED TEMPORARY ENGAGEMENT

Responsibilities:
  • Investigate workers’ compensation claims.
  • Analyze loss estimates and expert reports.
  • Assist in drafting client reports documenting the results of our review.
  • Regularly attend claim meetings.

Legal Auditor
LOCATION: Boston

Position summary:
Alan Gray LLC is currently recruiting for a Legal Auditor position in our Boston office. The qualified candidate will conduct the auditing and review of legal invoices for various lines of business. A law degree and insurance background are required.

THIS IS A TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT.

Responsibilities:
  • Review and code legal invoices for adherence to clients’ guidelines
  • Review insurance company, defense firm and plaintiff firm files for financial exposure and other relevant data.
  • Conduct analysis and author reports summarizing findings of the audits
  • Discuss findings of audits and negotiate settlements with insureds, insurance companies and/or defense firms.
  • Research legal and factual issues as applicable
Qualifications:
  • JD required

Director of Forensic Accounting
LOCATION: Boston, New York, or Remote

Position summary:
Alan Gray LLC is currently recruiting candidates for a Director of Forensic Accounting to assist our clients in the valuation of damages arising out of claims for lost profits, fraud, product liability/product recall, business interruption, subrogation, and other financial losses. To be successful in this role, you will combine keen investigative skills with knowledge of accounting procedures.

  • Candidate must have experience working in the P&C insurance industry as well as claims related experience particularly measuring damages for business interruption, product recall and lost income.
  • Solid organizational skills and project management skills with the ability to meet project deadlines.
  • Expert witness experience is a plus.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Establish proper accounting controls and procedures to analyze financial and operational data to value economic damages claimed against our clients.
  • Analyze financial data of MGA's and TPA's for major commercial insurers to identify proper controls are adhered to and to identify any financial discrepancies.
  • Report on revenue losses and damages from contract breaches.
  • Provide litigation support including expert reports and testimony in arbitrations and trials.
Qualifications:
  • BS/BA in Accounting, Economics, Finance or another relevant field.
  • CPA Certification
  • Minimum of 7 years of consulting and auditing.
  • Supervisory skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
