Forensic Accountant

JOB TITLE: Forensic Accountant

LOCATION: Boston, New York City or Remote

Alan Gray LLC is currently recruiting candidates for a Forensic Accountant position to investigate business interruption/lost profit claims through a detailed analysis of financial records to determine the financial effect the loss event had on the performance of the business. You should also be able to organize financial information into detailed reports to be used as evidence to resolve insurance disputes.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze financial data
  • Conduct forensic audits of property and casualty claims for major commercial insurers.
  • Perform financial calculations to determine economic loss calculations.
  • Draft reports summarizing findings and calculations.
  • Develop spreadsheets that document and support calculations.
  • Provide litigation support and present findings to be used as trial evidence
  • Assist in the development of existing and new clients.
  • Conduct audits of MGA’s and TPA’s for major commercial insurers.
  • Preparation of financial analysis, financial modeling, and investigative procedures in connection with various damage quantification and forensic investigation matters including business interruption.
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion.

 

Qualifications:

The preferable candidate will have insurance claims related experience:

  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance, preferably with a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification
  • Minimum of 7 years of consulting and auditing experience.
  • Experience within the insurance industry.
  • Advanced organization skills
  • Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Understanding of forensic auditing procedures
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Litigation Management Specialist (HPL)

LOCATION: Illinois

Position Summary:
Must have proven experience handling medical malpractice, hospital professional liability and/or heavy general liability claims experience. Alan Gray LLC, an insurance services firm seeks experienced Litigation Management Specialist with 10 years experience for our expanding TPA practice.

Responsibilities:
  • Ability to manage the litigation process; ensure timely and cost-effective claims resolution for medical malpractice, hospital professional liability and/or general liability claims.
  • Litigation experience in managing outside counsel and other vendors.
  • Experience in evaluating coverage, managing investigations, evaluating and settling litigated claims.
Qualifications:

Litigation Management Specialist (LTC)

LOCATION: Boston, New York, New Jersey

Position Summary:

Must have experience handling claims for medical professional/negligence related to Nursing Home/Assisted Living/Rehabilitation facilities as well as general liability claims. Alan Gray LLC is seeking experienced Claims/Litigation Specialists with two years or more experience for our expanding TPA practice.

Responsibilities:
  • Ability to manage the claims/litigation process; ensure timely and cost-effective claims and litigation resolution for medical malpractice, medical/nursing home facilities and professional liability/general liability claims
  • Experience in managing outside defense counsel and other related vendors;
  • Experience in evaluating coverage, managing investigations, evaluating and negotiating litigated claims

Construction Defect Specialist
LOCATION: Boston and/or New York City

Position summary:
Alan Gray LLC is a rapidly expanding international insurance and financial services firm headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. We are looking for a strong Construction Defect Specialist for a temporary assignment. You will be responsible for a complex caseload, where determining coverage, composing disclaimers and reservation of rights letters will be required. You must have in-depth knowledge of risk transfer and apportionment, and the ability to “think outside of the box” to create results in company’s best financial interests. Reporting to upper management will be required while setting proper reserves on cases.

THIS IS A TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT.

Responsibilities:
  • Direct handling of Construction Defect and General Liability claims of varying severity from receipt to final resolution.
  • Perform coverage analyses and draft coverage position letters consistent with those analyses.
  • Working to promote the company’s technical claims expertise and profile in the marketplace.
  • Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements, including licensing requirements.
  • Investigate, evaluate and settle claims, applying technical knowledge and people skills to effect fair and prompt claim resolution.
  • Complete detailed reviews of claims related issues, including coverage, liability and damages and, document the claim files appropriately.
  • Set and maintain appropriate and timely indemnity and expense reserves.
  • Must have good business acumen (i.e. understand how an insurance company works and makes money, including how this role impacts both the company and our customers’ ability to be profitable).
Qualifications:
  • Prior related work experience required in construction defect claims handling.
  • The ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment to manage a caseload with only limited oversight by a manager (generally ten or more years).
  • At least 5 years of insurance claims handling the experience.
  • Good organizational skills and a disciplined, self-motivated personality.

Position summary:

PEAK PERIOD OPPORTUNITIES

Responsibilities:
  • Adjudicate and adjust CAT Claims.
  • Identify coverage issues.
  • Review, analyze and collect information from litigation and claim files maintained by insured’s, insurers, and/or outside counsel. Assignments typically involve commercial property, homeowners, asbestos, toxic tort, and environmental claims.

LOCATION: Boston

Position summary: Alan Gray LLC is currently recruiting for a Legal Auditor position in our Boston office. The qualified candidate will conduct the auditing and review of legal invoices for various lines of business. A law degree and insurance background are required.

THIS IS A TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT.

Responsibilities: 
  • Review and code legal invoices for adherence to clients’ guidelines
  • Review insurance company, defense firm and plaintiff firm files for financial exposure and other relevant data.
  • Conduct analysis and author reports summarizing findings of the audits
  • Discuss findings of audits and negotiate settlements with insureds, insurance companies and/or defense firms.
  • Research legal and factual issues as applicable
Qualifications:
  • JD required

Workers’ Compensation Audit Manager

Alan Gray, LLC is seeking Workers’ Compensation Audit Manager in Boston.

Position Summary: We are currently seeking a dynamic claims professional to manage audits of Workers’ Comp claims. Knowledge of multiple jurisdictions is required. Experience with general liability claims would also be beneficial.

Responsibilities:
  • Audit Workers’ Comp compensation claims in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Prepare detailed reports of audit findings.
  • Manage other auditors working on projects.
  • Provide clients with advice on issues they are facing with their active claims as requested.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years of multi-jurisdictional Workers’ Comp claims handling experience
  • 1-2 years of related audit experience preferred.
