Litigation Management Specialist (HPL)

LOCATION: Illinois

Position Summary: 
Must have proven experience handling medical malpractice, hospital professional liability and/or heavy general liability claims experience. Alan Gray LLC, an insurance services firm seeks experienced Litigation Management Specialist with 10+ years experience for our expanding TPA practice. 

Successful candidates will have the following:

Responsibilities:
  • Ability to manage the litigation process; ensure timely and cost-effective claims resolution for medical malpractice, hospital professional liability and/or general liability claims.

Construction Defect Specialist
LOCATION: Boston and/or New York City

Position summary:
Alan Gray LLC is a rapidly expanding international insurance and financial services firm headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. We are looking for a strong Construction Defect Specialist for a temporary assignment. You will be responsible for a complex caseload, where determining coverage, composing disclaimers and reservation of rights letters will be required. You must have in-depth knowledge of risk transfer and apportionment, and the ability to “think outside of the box” to create results in company’s best financial interests. Reporting to upper management will be required while setting proper reserves on cases.

THIS IS A TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT.

Responsibilities:
  • Direct handling of Construction Defect and General Liability claims of varying severity from receipt to final resolution.
  • Perform coverage analyses and draft coverage position letters consistent with those analyses.
  • Working to promote the company’s technical claims expertise and profile in the marketplace.
  • Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements, including licensing requirements.
  • Investigate, evaluate and settle claims, applying technical knowledge and people skills to effect fair and prompt claim resolution.
  • Complete detailed reviews of claims related issues, including coverage, liability and damages and, document the claim files appropriately.
  • Set and maintain appropriate and timely indemnity and expense reserves.
  • Must have good business acumen (i.e. understand how an insurance company works and makes money, including how this role impacts both the company and our customers’ ability to be profitable).
Qualifications:
  • Prior related work experience required in construction defect claims handling.
  • The ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment to manage a caseload with only limited oversight by a manager (generally ten or more years).
  • At least 5 years of insurance claims handling experience.
  • Good organizational skills and a disciplined, self-motivated personality.
  • Proficient in interpersonal, negotiation, presentation and professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Solid computer skills including proficiency in the use of Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Claims Auditor
LOCATION: Boston, New York City or Remote

Position summary:
THIS IS A TEMPORARY/INTERMITTENT ASSIGNMENT THAT COULD RESULT IN A PERMANENT POSITION. CANDIDATES INTERESTED IN ONLY INTERMITTENT OPPORTUNITIES ARE ALSO ENCOURAGED TO APPLY.

Responsibilities:
  • Investigate, evaluate and resolve claims through the normal claim handling process. Achieve optimal results through proper litigation and vendor management. Review, analyze and provide opinions as to claim handling practices of claims handled by Third Parties.
  • Representative claim audits typically include Professional Liability, General Liability, Excess, Auto, or Workers’ Compensation claims.
  • Depending on experience and ability, the position may require project management responsibilities where the individual will direct and oversee audits and manage assigned auditors.

Position summary:
Alan Gray LLC is an established insurance services firm headquartered in Downtown Boston. We are currently seeking a Claims Generalist to support our various insurance projects during peak claim periods.

PEAK PERIOD OPPORTUNITIES

Responsibilities:
  • Adjudicate and adjust CAT Claims.
  • Identify coverage issues.
  • Review, analyze and collect information from litigation and claim files maintained by insured’s, insurers, and/or outside counsel. Assignments typically involve commercial property, homeowners, asbestos, toxic tort, and environmental claims.

Position summary:

Forensic Accountant
LOCATION: Boston or New York City

Position summary:
Alan Gray LLC is currently recruiting candidates for a Forensic Accountant position to audit financial records for discrepancies, inaccuracies or verification purposes. Main responsibilities include performing forensic reviews or audits on, and analysis of, company financial data to identify potential fraud, business revenue loss, quality of earnings or for verification purposes. To be successful in this role, you should combine keen investigative skills with knowledge of accounting procedures. You should also be able to organize financial information into detailed reports.

CANDIDATES MUST HAVE AN INSURANCE BACKGROUND.

Responsibilities:
  • Review financial documents to identify inaccuracies.
  • Analyze financial data and trace discrepancies.
  • Conduct audits of verify quality of earnings and other issues.
  • Report on revenue losses and damages from contract breaches.
  • Provided litigation support and present findings to be used as trial evidence.
  • Perform regular financial record audits.
  • Conduct review to ensure internal controls are in place.

  • Preparation of financial analysis, financial modeling, and investigative procedures in connection with various damage quantification and forensic investigation matters including business interruption.
  • Preparation of high-quality reports for delivery to clients detailing procedures undertaken, findings, limitations, and recommendations.
  • Assemble accounting information and create summary spreadsheets.
  • Perform financial calculations to determine economic loss calculations.
  • Draft reports summarizing findings and calculations.
  • Develop spreadsheets that document and support calculations.
  • Assist in the development of existing and new clients.
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion.
  • Manage staff.
Qualifications:
  • Preferable candidate will have insurance claims related experience
  • Proven work experience as a Forensic Accountant, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or relevant role
  • BS/BA in Accounting
  • Must be a CPA
  • Minimum of 7 years of consulting and auditing
  • Experience within the Insurance Industry
  • Advanced organizational skills
  • Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience with accounting and financial procedures
  • Understanding of forensic auditing procedures
  • Familiarity with accounting software and spreadsheets
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills
  • Excellent numeracy skills with an ability to spot inaccuracies
  • The ability to handle confidential information
  • BSc degree in Accounting or Finance, preferably with a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification
  • Additional qualification in Economic Crime Investigation or Law Enforcement will be a plus
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Access.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
